Spring rains have arrived — I went past the Town Brook the other day and saw it was almost up to its banks at MacMurray College.
The way the economy is, it’s been hard to get our project moving. There’s still interest in creating a bike trail to Lake Jacksonville and a park along the Town Brook. At a Kiwanis Club meeting recently Lori Large Oldenettel said Jacksonville Mayor Andy Ezard asked her to help promote Lake Jacksonville, the best bass fishing lake in the state, and the proposed bike trail. And Mark Greene contacted me about joining forces with another group with interested in creating a park outside of Jacksonville.
The Pioneer Heritage Foundation of Illinois already owns a plot of land east of town that’s connected to a tributary of the Town Brook. The group is already set up as a non-profit organization (the 501(c)3 paperwork is enough to bring anyone to their knees) and suggests we affiliate with their efforts.
We are going to try to set up some meetings and get things moving, and will post as details are set.
